Integration Ways Between EdTech Technologies

Learning Management Systems and Sertifier

Different results arise in studies regarding the dynamism and diversity of individuals, contexts, and levels in the learning and teaching process, as well as the day-to-day change and development of technology and technology integration, with time, environment, sample, and technology used. These differences show themselves especially in the studies of defining the integration process.

At this point, there are many models developed to provide integration between EdTech technologies. Some of these models are listed below;

Five Stage Computer Technology Integration Model

This model was developed by Toledo (2005) for a teacher training program to help educational institutions such as schools, universities, or departments and their subunits understand where they are in integration and guide them to move forward from the stage they are in. It consists of 5 stages;

• Before Integration

• Transition

• Development

• Spread

• Integration within the scope of the whole system

Systemic Planning Model

Wang & Woo (2007) stated that ICT integration will take place at three levels according to the content discussed;

• Curriculum (Macro level): Integrating ICT into all content and learning experiences in a whole lesson process.

• Topic (Meso level): The use of ICT to support student learning in specific topics.

• Course (Micro level): Using ICT to explain the subject better in one or more lessons.

5N 1K Model (5W 1H Unified Integration Model)

In the model, which has a cyclical structure, the questions of who, why, and how are basic, and under the question of how, what, when, and where questions are included.

• Why: It requires determining the goal of the integration process and determining the reasons for using ICT.

• For whom: Audience characteristics.

• How: How to use appropriate teaching and learning strategies.

• Where: Preparing the proper environment.

• When: Planning implementation.

• What: needed ICT resources and applications.

Efficient ways of integration have been sought between many such models and EdTech. In this way, it is aimed to provide more efficient learning and teaching for individuals in the learning and teaching process with the LMS (Learning Management System) and EdTech’s other solutions.

So What is LMS? What Does It Do?

What is the LMS? LMS (Learning Management System) is a software created to manage e-learning processes more efficiently and effectively. Although it is translated into Turkish as “Education Management System”, the English abbreviation LMS is mostly used. Thanks to this system, an organization can systematically carry out, manage and measure training activities.

LMS has two interfaces. One is the “admin” interface, which is only accessible by the HR department in companies, and the other is the “user” interface that company employees enter with their own username and password. The admin can assign an e-training that the user should take to him. The user, who sees that the training has been assigned to him, can watch the training until the deadline he should receive, wherever and whenever he wants. The admin can then follow the reports of the users through the system. The answers to many questions such as who started the training, who completed the training, for how long, which e-training continued, and whether they were able to answer the questions correctly, can be found in excel reports. In other words, the most basic task of LMS is reporting. Sertifier comes into play at this point.

What is Sertifier?
