What is Pathwright?
Pathwright is an all-in-one design, learning, and teaching platform that enables educators and organizations to create, deliver, and manage online courses. It offers a user-friendly interface for designing interactive learning paths, facilitating learner engagement, and tracking progress. Pathwright supports various content types, including videos, readings, discussions, and assignments, allowing for a comprehensive and customizable educational experience.
How to Send Pathwright Certificates Using Sertifier
Integrating Pathwright with Sertifier allows you to automate the issuance of digital certificates upon course completion. While Pathwright does not natively support SCORM, you can utilize Sertifier’s API to create and send certificates. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
- Set Up a Sertifier Account: If you haven’t already, create an account on Sertifier.
- Obtain API Credentials: In your Sertifier dashboard, navigate to the API section to generate your API key.
- Configure Pathwright Webhooks:
- In Pathwright, go to your account settings and locate the webhooks section.
- Create a new webhook that triggers upon course completion.
- Set the webhook URL to point to a server or service that can process the webhook and interact with Sertifier’s API.
- Develop a Middleware Service: Create a service that listens for Pathwright’s webhook events and, upon receiving a course completion event, sends a request to Sertifier’s API to generate and send a certificate to the learner.
- Test the Integration: Enroll in a test course, complete it, and verify that a certificate is issued correctly.
This setup ensures that learners automatically receive a digital certificate from Sertifier upon completing a course in Pathwright.
Does Pathwright Have an App?
Yes, Pathwright offers a mobile application called “Path App,” available for iOS devices. This app allows users to access their courses, track progress, and continue learning on the go. Additionally, Pathwright’s platform is designed to be mobile-responsive, enabling users to access their learning paths via mobile browsers without the need for a dedicated app.
Does Pathwright Support SCORM?
Pathwright does not support SCORM, nor does it plan to. Here’s why:
SCORM, an outdated protocol, was designed to enable content transfer between Learning Management Systems (LMSs), but it has shown significant limitations. SCORM “objects” are essentially content bundles without adequate classification data, making them hard to transfer seamlessly between systems unless both systems use similarly generic, unstructured content. This often results in uninspiring, passive learning experiences, which is the opposite of what effective learning should be.
There are four main reasons Pathwright chose not to develop SCORM support:
- SCORM’s Limitations on Learning Experiences: SCORM tends to lead to passive and generic learning, which is not aligned with Pathwright’s engaging and interactive approach.
- Transition to Modern Standards: SCORM is gradually being replaced by more modern protocols like TinCan (also known as xAPI), which offers enhanced tracking capabilities across different software systems.
- Pathwright’s Built-In Authoring Tool: Pathwright already includes an easy-to-use yet powerful authoring tool for diverse learning interactions, reducing the need to import content from external authoring tools.
- Security Concerns: Some versions of SCORM present unresolved security vulnerabilities.
While TinCan offers promising capabilities for tracking learning activities across systems (like marking completed projects), it hasn’t yet developed a consistent method for transferring actual content, such as quizzes or videos, between platforms. Pathwright is open to exploring TinCan as it continues to evolve, especially if it aligns with Pathwright’s completion model for tracking learner actions. However, for now, Pathwright will focus on its current system until TinCan adoption becomes more established.
